Answering questions

We listened carefully to the lady, and we were able to answer most of the questions she asked us about what she'd told us about Water.

How many litres of water do we use a day?

The lady showed us the large squash bottle and told us that it held 1 litre of water. She told us that families can use up to 150 litres of water a day, including litres used flushing the toilet!

Young People's Trust - Communicating information

Yesterday, we had a talk about our Eco Topic of Water from a lady from the Young People's Trust. It was very interesting and she told us lots of new facts about water. We were then able to communicate to our talking partners about what we'd learnt!

Litter in the Pond !

We found some litter floating in the pond . We generated imaginative ideas and possibilities for its arrival in the pond , then asked Mr Williams to help us retrieve it with his high-tech litter picker !

Saving Water

We listened to the contributions of others and decided to reuse the water from our water tray by giving the plants a drink !

Water Preservation - Numeracy skills.

We estimated how much water would be wasted form a dripping tap. We measured the wasted water over a morning and the results were 210 mls ! We compared our findings with our predictions. We used the water to refresh our pond.

The BFG's Cave.

We have all helped to make the BFG's cave. We have used crumpled news paper to make the shape of the cave, then we have covered it with tissue paper and paint. We are going to put our jars of good dreams inside the cave.

Eco Week - Communicating in circle time.

We told the persona doll all about our Eco week during our circle time.

Targetting the ball

Here we are trying to get the ball through the middle of the parachute. Do you think we need to move the parachute quickly or not?

Using the parachute

We like to keep ourselves fit by using the parachute to play games. We have to communicate with each other to make sure we do our best for our team!

Mental arithmetic

We play mental arithmetic games using the number fans. What do you think the sum could have been to give the answer of 7?

Spelling games

We play lots of spelling games in class. We write our answers on the whiteboards and show everybody. We check with each other to see if our answers are right.

Working together.

We enjoy working together in small groups. We can help each other out if we get stuck on anything.

Shorter or longer than a metre?

We enjoyed going around the classroom looking for objects to measure. Can you name things that are shorter / longer than a metre?

Measuring equipment.

What measuring equipment do you think would be best to use to measure this book? We think the ruler would be the best, as the metre stick is too big!

Using a metre stick.

We have learnt that there are one hundred centimetres in a metre. We have gone around our classroom measuring different objects to see what length they are.

Using a tape measure

Georgia is measuring the size of my chest using the tape measure.

Recording our results.

Here we are recording the results of our measuring on a table. We can then compare the results.

Measuring

We have learnt how to measure using centimetres. Here we are measuring our partner's heads to see who has the biggest!
